Limestone offers a smooth, even surface in soft blues and greys that works beautifully with both painted and rendered houses. Sandstone brings warmer tones and gentle variation across each slab, making it a favourite for traditional gardens. Granite is the hardest wearing of the three, with a subtle sparkle and excellent grip, which makes it ideal for steps, entrances and busier paths.
Because every slab is slightly different, natural stone sits comfortably on a period property while still looking right against a new build. Laid on a properly prepared base with the correct falls and jointing, a stone patio only improves with age, adding lasting value to the property rather than dating after a few seasons.
